Julia Michaels Inner Monologue Tour Review

Updated: Oct 20, 2019

October 18th at Emo's was Julia Michaels’ first headline show in Austin and the artist did not disappoint. She may be a pop singer but the growl in her voice, shouts, and multiple guitar solos from her band gives more of a rock concert element. The Inner Monologue tour featured many monologues from Michaels and stayed true to the theme of her music, encouraging a safe space for dancing, singing, and cathartic screaming if needed. Michaels and the band had great bouncing energy and fed from the crowd’s great energy as well. There was great crowd interaction, with lots of sing and clap alongs and Michaels even moved to perform two songs in the middle of the floor. For an encore she performed “What a Time” and brought out opening act Rhys Lewis to sing the duet part originally recorded with Niall Horan. Overall it was a lively show that showed Michaels’ personality and talent.
